Job description
Are you a researcher who's looking for a role where you can contribute towards improving canine welfare?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Officer to join our Canine Behaviour and Research team on a fixed term maternity cover contract to support activities related to adoption and post adoption support. This will include activities related to the contribution to the design of a new digital rehoming process across our 22 centres and the resultant research related to rehoming and post adoption.
To be successful in this role you will have in depth experience of quantitative and/or qualitative research, preferably relating to an animal welfare or behaviour topic. You will have experience using ‘R’ with research data, be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and you will be motivated by the aims and objectives of Dogs Trust. Experience of the collection and analysis of data within longitudinal cohort studies and/or dog rehoming related data would be an advantage. The role is varied and will include close interaction with various teams and departments, especially Operations and IT. As such it is important that the Research Officer possesses strong communication skills and can communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Dogs Trust's Research Team was formed to provide capacity to inform our work with robust evidence. Working as part of a team of researchers which reports to the Director of Strategy and Transformation, you will support other departments by developing and delivering research to support the decisions they make in working with dogs, owners, the wider general public and policy makers.
Please note, the position is a maternity cover contract on a fixed term basis until May 2024. The post is available as flexible working, either at London Office or Homebased or a combination, but with regular travel to London Office and other Dogs Trust sites. When applying for the position please include a covering letter that addresses how you meet the person specification in the job description. Applications without a covering letter will not be progressed.
