We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Officerto join our Canine Behaviour and Research Department to help us deliver the technical resources and skills to enable Dogs Trust staff to provide the best possible support for the dogs within its care.
Dogs Trust is the largest UK-based canine welfare organisation. It is committed to ensuring best practice in the care and welfare of dogs. To achieve this aim, it is important that a robust and critical approach is taken when evaluating both current activity and research evidence. In addition, the collection and analysis of relevant data is key in ensuring optimum welfare for dogs in our care as well as dogs everywhere.
In this varied and interesting short-term role, you will support the Deputy Head of Research and other Dogs Trust departments by taking responsibility for aspects of existing and new research team projects. You are likely to be involved in literature reviews, developing data collection tools as well as analysis of information from Dogs Trust research projects, while also supporting a Research Assistant in development of their research skills. You will also support liaison with universities and external collaborators ensuring timely and accurate communication of research activity with relevant stakeholders
To be successful in this role you will have a postgraduate degree in a relevant field, and a good knowledge of research methods, data collection techniques and statistical analysis. A strong communicator with experience in presenting the results of research to different audiences you will be willing to travel to Rehoming Centres or other sites to assist with collection of data, promotion of the project(s), to assist others in the co-ordination of research projects or to contribute to other research-related activities.
