Job description
Research Support Team, UoN Libraries
Are you interested in bibliometrics? Do you enjoy working with researchers, delivering training and advocacy activities? We have 2 exciting opportunities which are part of a strategic initiative at the University of Nottingham focussing on research reputation and intelligence.
We know that having colleagues from a wide range of groups and backgrounds is key to a good supportive workplace and even better services. We are particularly keen to receive applications from groups who are currently underrepresented in libraries in the UK, such as people from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic backgrounds.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering a training programme using research intelligence tools to help support researchers’ publication strategies. You will also provide advice on the responsible use of publication data and research metrics as part of the team’s enquiry service and participate in a broad range of engagement activities. You will also be involved in optimising the flow of publications data into our internal repository to populate the academic web profiles of university researchers.
You will be part of a friendly and welcoming Library Research Support Team which deliver services across the research lifecycle. We promote best practice in open research, facilitate publication and reuse of outputs, and support discovery, access and management of research literature and data. You will work closely across UoN Libraries teams and in partnership with Professional Service departments such as Research and Innovation.
You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of bibliometric practices and have experience of using research metric tools. We are looking for candidates who can confidently engage with and deliver inclusive training to researchers at all levels and across a range of academic disciplines.
There are 2 positions available on a fixed term contract until 31 July 2027 funded through the Research Reputation and Intelligence project. Hours are full time (36.25 hours per week), however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered. You will be based in the George Green Library, on University Park, but your work could involve you working across our different campuses. We currently have a hybrid working arrangement where you will be expected to spend a minimum of two days on campus.
Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
Don’t meet every single requirement? Within UoN Libraries, we are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Alison Ashmore ([email protected]). Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
