Salary: £42,875 to £48,691 per annum, inclusive. Closing Date: Thursday 27 July 2023 Reference: ITD-DIB-2023-07 We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work in the laboratory of Professor Serge Mostowy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The post-holder will carry out laboratory research on microbiology and cell biology, and prepare manuscripts for submission to scientific journals. This will involve biochemical, molecular, genetic and cell biological approaches and would suit an individual with a background in molecular cell biology. The successful applicant will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant field; practical experience in a broad range of techniques that apply to the cell biology of infection, bacterial genetics, single cell analysis, host cell manipulation (siRNA, CRISPR, transfection), DNA and RNA preparation and analysis, high resolution microscopy; evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; evidence of good organizational skills, including effective time management; practical experience in a broad range of techniques that apply to microscopy including image acquisition, image analysis, computer programming, ImageJ, deconvolution softwares. The post is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) and is available from 1st October 2023. The salary will be on the Academic scale, Grade 6 scale in the range £42,875 - £48,691 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff.
