Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to join the Cancer B Cell of Professor Francesco Forconi working alongside Professor Mark Cragg in the Antibody and Vaccine Group.

The successful candidate will have a PhD degree or equivalent EU qualification and experience. Applications from EU candidates are welcome. Knowledge and laboratory experience of tumour and/or normal B cell biology, glycobiology and antibody generation/manipulation are desirable. You will test recently developed antibodies and contribute to the investigation of the mechanisms of disease mediated by the interaction of the tumour B-cell receptor and lectins to treat follicular lymphoma, performing in vitro and in vivo (animal models) studies in preparation of potential first-human studies.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

You will be an enthusiastic and well-motivated scientist, capable of developing your own research project as well as a good team-player with excellent communication skills. You will join an expanding team of scientists and clinicians with a strong grounding in cancer B-cell immunology, glycobiology, signalling and antibody therapeutics. You will be expected to contribute to the academic development and enhancement of the quality of research and enterprise of the Cancer B cell Group within the Faculty, nationally and internationally.

This post will be based within the School of Cancer Sciences, comprising the Cancer Research UK Centre and Centre for Cancer Immunology at the Southampton General Hospital campus, occupying modern, well-equipped, purpose-built laboratories, with support from clinical and laboratory-based colleagues.
