Job description
Applications are sought for a committed Postdoctoral Research Fellow in experimental photonics, for a project to develop a new approach to three dimensional visualization using photonic metasurfaces. The applicant should have research experience in the design/fabrication and experimental characterization of photonic nanostructures, preferably with experience of optical metasurfaces. Knowledge of organic optoelectronics and photophysics would be welcome.
The successful candidate will work with Professors Andrea Di Falco, Ifor Samuel and Graham Turnbull on an EPSRC-funded project entitled Self-Illuminating Holograms for Human-Computer Interaction. The project will use the world-class facilities of the School of Physics and Astronomy and Organic Semiconductor Centre. The primary duties will be to design and fabricate photonic metasurfaces and OLEDs and to characterize their photonic properties.
The successful applicant will have (or be near to completion of) a PhD in Physics or a related discipline with expertise in nanophotonic fabrication, metasurfaces and/or organic semiconductor device fabrication.
The post is available for up to 18 months starting 1st April or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applications are particularly welcome from women, people from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community, and other protected characteristics who are under-represented in research posts at the University.
