Job description
The Primary Care Unit of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care within the School of Clinical Medicine is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified doctor to support the Palliative Care teaching of medical students. We are looking for a medical colleague to join the Palliative Care teaching team of Prof. Stephen Barclay (Professor of Palliative Care), Dr Anna Spathis (Assistant Professor), Dr Annabel Price (Associate Speciality Director), Dr Robert Brodrick (Associate Speciality Director) and Alice Cuttriss (Teaching Administrator).
You will have current experience of clinical Palliative Care delivery for patients in hospital, hospice, care home or community settings, with experience of medical student teaching and an enthusiasm to participate in the delivery of the Palliative Care course.
Overview of Role
The post holder will work with the teaching team in:
- Contributing to delivery of the Palliative Care teaching of students on the Cambridge Standard Clinical Course and the Cambridge Graduate Course in Medicine.
- Contributing to the planning and development of the Palliative Care course.
- Contributing to the assessment of Palliative Care coursework submitted by students.
- Participating in student assessment.
- Meeting continuing personal development needs in the education field.
Teaching
The post-holder will focus on the delivery of medical student Palliative Care teaching: opportunities for educational research may also arise.
Weekly commitment is two half days per week (2 PA's/8 hours) or one half day per week (1 PA/4 hours) would also be considered.
The funds for this post are available for one year in the first instance from commencement in post.
It is anticipated that the post-holder will be directly employed by the University, though a secondment from current employer is also possible to arrange if appropriate.
This is an integrated appointment between the University and the relevant NHS Trust/Body ("NHS Trust"). The post-holder will be working in a clinical role with a NHS Trust/Hospice/GP practice/similar body and may require an Honorary Clinical Contract by the NHS Trust. You should be aware that if your contract with the NHS Trust is terminated your employment with the University will be terminated and vice versa.
