Full Time Manchester, England 37474 - 43414 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Following an outstanding performance in REF 2021, Manchester Metropolitan University is continuing to pursue research excellence with impact as one of two core missions under its Road to 2030 Strategy. To help us to achieve our ambitions, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Research Ethics and Governance Manager to join colleagues in the Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate who support all aspects of the University's high-quality research portfolio.

The role:
As a Research Ethics and Governance Manager you will play a major part in ensuring that research is delivered in line with ethical values and our commitments to the Concordat for Research Integrity. You will be part of a small and busy team that provides expertise and guidance to help staff and students carry out research that is consistent with high ethical and governance standards

You will report to the Head of Research Environment and Impact and work with existing Research Ethics and Governance Managers, research administrators and the Research Intelligence team. You will work closely with the Director of RKE on matters related to NHS sponsorship, our designated individual for matters related to the Human Tissue Act and our Faculty Heads of Research Ethics and Governance.

About you:

We are looking to appoint a personable, values-driven and collegiate individual who will build positive working relationships and can cope with the demands of a busy working environment.

The successful applicant will have good experience of working in a similar role or function either in a University / the NHS or a related environment. We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who have some experience of advising academics on clinical or health-related research.

This role requires significant knowledge and understanding of the UK and international research landscape from a research integrity perspective.

You will have an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the implementation of the University's ambitious research strategy.

Working here:
This is great opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team. We offer a fantastic range of benefits to employees, including a central location, which is excellent for commuters, a generous annual leave allowance (35 days, plus Christmas Closure and Bank Holidays), and a very competitive pension scheme. You will also get access to a wellbeing platform, retail discounts, travel loans (public transport), a cycle to work scheme, plus many more rewards and benefits.

How to apply:
Your application should provide detailed examples of how your experience and skills match the requirements of this role. Please attach a CV.

For an informal discussion regarding the requirements of this role, please contact Sam Gray, Head of Research Environment and Impact, [email protected]

Hybrid working is offered for this role, where you will be able to work a proportion of time on campus and a proportion remotely. We recognise the benefits and importance of an environment that supports flexible working and are open to conversations throughout the application process.

Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to supporting the rights, responsibilities, dignity, health and wellbeing of staff and students through our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

We promote applications from all sections of the community, irrespective of background, belief, or identity, recognising the benefits that a diverse organisation can bring. We particularly encourage applications from Black and Minority Ethnic candidates, who we recognise are underrepresented in this area.
