The successful candidate will have oversight for all aspects of the chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) the Western Digital research cleanroom. Western Digital operates a 20,000 sq. ft. R&D cleanroom which fabricates a range of devices from BEOL CMOS emerging memories to prototype chips for DNA-based storage and neuromorphic computation. You would be joining a team of over 20 engineers and technicians that collaborate on these wafer builds. In addition to overseeing technicians handling standard CMP jobs, you would develop new CMP recipes and work with the equipment engineering teams and external vendors to insure the reliable operation of the CMP polishing tools and cleaners in our line. The ideal candidate would also own entire CMP process modules, including developing the metrology methods (Nanometrics inspection, AFM, SEM, etc.) required to integrate our CMP steps into process flows.

• At least 5 years direct experience with semiconductor process engineering
• Hands-on experience with CMP tooling
• CMP module integration experience
• Hands-on experience with CMP metrology techniques (optical thickness measurements, AFM, SEM, etc.)
• Adaptable and agile with a mindset to drive innovation concurrently with execution
• Minimum MS Materials Sciences, Chemistry, or related field
