The Role
The scale of the work we do means that Tata is an immense arena for learning and development.
Our Research & Development (R&D) team combines inventiveness with cutting-edge technology to deliver steel products fit for the twenty-first century. Our clients’ needs are constantly evolving so we work in close alliance with them, getting to grips with their businesses and their marketplaces, in order to understand their complex requirements. Our innovative steel products enable them to push the boundaries of what is currently possible, offering the support and technical expertise they need to design new products and create pioneering new applications.
The Candidate
You must have at least a 2:1 in a numeric or scientific discipline, which may have been gained in one of these areas: Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science or Data Science.
Driven, passionate and tenacious, your strong sense of personal accountability is bolstered by your eye for the bigger picture. Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to inspire trust and build engagement are also essential.
We have vacancies in the following Knowledge Groups:
Applied Metallurgy, based at either the Tata Steel Technology Centre, Swansea University or Tata Steel Technology Centre, Warwick University, working to innovate, develop and support implementation of advanced metallurgical solutions for our chosen markets
Data Science & Analytics, based at Tata Steel Technology Centre, Warwick University and Port Talbot, to develop and deploy data science and advanced analytics tools & techniques for the Tata Steel value chain
Product Engineering, based at Tata Steel Technology Centre, Warwick University, providing advanced technical services to internal and external customers to promote Tata Steel materials for new applications
Process Technology, based at Tata Steel Technology Centre , Swansea University and Port Talbot, developing and implementing process technology in close collaboration with production plants across the full UK manufacturing chain
Heavy End Technology, based at Tata Steel Technology Centre, Swansea University and Port Talbot, providing process research and support to Ironmaking, Steelmaking and casting whilst taking a leading role in decarbonisation of UK steelmaking processes.
Coatings Designs and Applications, based at either the Tata Steel Technology Centre, Swansea University or Tata Steel Technology Centre, Warwick University, looking to realize advanced and sustainable surface engineering solutions for our various markets.
