About us
This is an excellent opportunity a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Translational Cancer Therapeutics (TCT) Lab within the Research Department of Oncology at Cancer Institute, UCL to support the TRACERx EVO and PEACE Clinical Studies.
The UCL Cancer Institute is the hub for cancer research at University College London, one of the World's leading universities.
TRACERx EVO (TRAcking thoracic Cancer Evolution through therapy (Rx) EVO) TRACERx EVO is a 7-year project funded by CR-UK starting in October 2024 and involves multi-region whole genome sequence analyses of thoracic cancers from approximately 600 patients, through the disease course from pre-invasive through to primary and metastatic disease, in order to understand cancer evolutionary life histories in this disease.
The PEACE (Posthumous Evaluation of Advanced Cancer Environment) Study is the UK's first ever national study of blood and tissue samples from patients who have died from cancer.
About the role
The Research Coordinator & Laboratory Technician will work as part of a small team to support the TRACERx EVO and PEACE Clinical Studies, as necessary.
A major component of the post will include consenting patients onto the studies and collecting blood and tissue samples from patients in various settings including clinic, operating theatre and mortuary.
The post holder will be required to process, store and log clinical trial samples to GCLP standard in accordance with the current clinical trial regulations.
About you
The postholder should have a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent experience along with a high level of knowledge of biomedical sciences and patient follow up.
