NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. This is a Fixed term post for 2 years. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Sponsor team of the largest R&I team in Scotland. The post is being offered for 2 years in the first instance and secondments will be considered. The post holder with be responsible for an established portfolio of research. The scope of the remit will include investigator-led non-CTIMP multicenter studies and drug trials involving multiple medicines and UK and international sites. The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of Sponsor delivery for GG&C sole and Co-sponsored (with the University of Glasgow) drug trials. This involves working closely with Project Management teams, Sponsor Research Pharmacy staff, Senior Clinical Research Nursing staff, Bio repository leads, Senior Governance staff (Monitor and Pharmacovigilance staff) and the wider support services actively involved in research delivery across GG&C Board. Sponsor Co-ordinators are supported by Senior Research Administrator staff who they act as Line Manager for. The Senior Research administrators support staff to deliver protocol development, regulatory approval preparation and submission, CTA (Clinical Trial Authorisation applications), study amendments & generic reviews for a Portfolio of research projects. The Sponsor Co-ordinator will provide significant and expert research support and advice to researchers ranging from Research Fellows to established Consultants who are actively involved in research delivery from our Board and across affiliated West node partner boards. Sponsor Co-ordination of project costs, protocol details and logistics across GG&C including Nursing support, Sponsor Pharmacy review and approval, Monitoring and Pharmacovigilance, addition of financial review and costs, tissue acquisition, and research imaging. The R&I Sponsor team is centrally, and co-located, with the wider R&I team at Dykebar Hospital in Paisley where this post will be based. The Post holder will hold an excellent degree in Biological Science or a related Discipline and ideally a post graduate qualification (MSc and/or Ph.D). A sound understanding of research methodologies is essential and experience of R&I Systems and processes is highly desirable.
