Job description
A Research Co-ordinator position is available in the group of Professor Andrew Cooper at the University of Liverpool. The Research Co-ordinator will bring their own specialist expertise to strengthen relevant areas of our research, particularly in the development of automated methods for materials discovery. The ideal candidate for this role would have prior experience in automated experiments (most preferably, autonomous closed-loop approaches), combined with knowledge of a relevant area of chemistry/materials. You should have a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science.
In this position, you will develop new research directions and solve key problems arising across the group. The post will require a flexible approach in terms of willingness to change research direction, where required, and to rapidly follow up the strongest research opportunities. This is not a single project-focused role: the role is aimed at ensuring that the group is effectively run across multiple projects.
You will be involved in both the creation of new approaches and the coordination of complex experiments that require synchronized input from a multi-disciplinary team of researchers. As such, this role is a strong pathway for candidates pursuing an independent academic post or who wish to develop these new automation strategies in an industrial context.
