This is an exciting opportunity for an AHP to take a leading role in the NIHR funded project “An alcohol-related liver disease multi-stakeholder hub (ARMS-Hub) to enhance research activity in underserved communities in the UK”. The AHP will work as a research coordinator to map and develop clinical and research networks relating to alcohol-related liver disease, organise and lead multi-professional meetings and assist with developing research proposals to tackle key questions identified by patients and professionals. A qualitative researcher will support the AHP to lead group meetings with members of the public, patients and professionals. We are particularly keen to encourage involvement of AHPs in the ARMS-Hub and ask the post-holder to use their professional relationships and networks to assist with this aim.

The role is suited to any AHP who can work as part of an interdisciplinary team and who has excellent organisation and communication skills. Experience of research would be helpful but not essential to being able to carry out this role successfully.

The post provides excellent experience of inter-disciplinary patient-centric clinical research. It will be an opportunity to work with an expert research team with support from a lead AHP (Dietitian) and qualitative researcher.

This fully remote role does not require in-person attendance at the Trust.

The post holder will be responsible for conducting aspects of the ARMS-Hub project (as described in job description) with support and supervision from the Chief Investigator, AHP Lead and Qualitative Research Lead. The AHP will be able to autonomously plan, organise and manage allocated parts of the research project. S/he will develop professional relationships with multiple networks around the country.

PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Job Holder will act as research coordinator for the NIHR ARMS-Hub project. The AHP will:
1. Work with members of the ARMS-Hub research team to identify and map existing clinical and research networks relevant to alcohol-related liver disease e.g. British Association for AHPs in Liver
2. Invite representatives from existing networks to take part in the ARMS-Hub
3. Coordinate inter-professional meetings (5 virtual ARMS-Hub meetings
4. Act as facilitator for ARMS-Hub group meetings discussing 1) stigma, 2) methods to engage less research-active sites and 3) methods to engage under-served communities in research. Meetings will include patients, carers, researchers and healthcare professionals
5. Work with an experienced qualitative researcher to use nominal group technique to generate and prioritise alcohol-related liver disease research questions during ARMS-Hub meetings
6. Assist with developing and coordinating an in-person knowledge exchange symposium

  • Staff must comply with Safeguarding Policies and Procedures in order to promote safeguarding and prevent abuse to vulnerable people using Trust services
  • Maintain the prevention and control of infection and fully comply with all current Trust Infection Control policies and procedures
  • Take responsibility for any records that they create or use in the course of their duties, in line with the Public Records Act and be aware that any records created by an employee of the NHS are public records and may be subject to both legal and professional obligations.
