Who You Are
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with experimental and computational members of the Reik group in Altos. The Research Associate/Senior Research Associate will support and assist a highly collaborative, innovative team in the Cambridge Institute of Science focused on understanding chromatin mechanics in cellular aging and rejuvenation.

- Strong hands-on experience with cell culture, molecular biology methodologies, including, chromatin preparation, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR.

What You Will Contribute To Altos
Responsibilities
- Generation, maintenance, and cryo-perseveration of various cell lines, including stem cells.
- Perform in vitro reprogramming of adult somatic cells.
- Assist the team characterize the chromatin landscape of somatic cells undergoing reprogramming.
- Perform various in vitro analysis experiments; chromatin preparation, protein and nucleic acid isolation, Western blotting, fluorescence microscopy, biochemical assays, and data generation.
- Carry out risk assessments in accordance with the institute's Health and Safety policies covering all aspects of laboratory work.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date electronic records of all lab activities.
- Assist with reviewing research activities to determine where new information, methods, or collaborations could positively impact projects and improve efficiency of processes.
- Assisting with the development of innovative techniques and systems needed to meet the team's research goals.
- Interfacing on a regular basis with the lead scientist to present, organize, coordinate, and execute experimental work.
Minimum Qualifications
BSc/MSc (or equivalent) in a biology-based discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and/or familiarity of generating iPSCs.
- Experience with generating and QC of sequencing libraries.
- Experience and/or familiarity with single cell sequencing technologies.
- Experience with fluorescence microscopy and image analysis.
The salary ranges for this position are: Research Associate I range is £29,750 to £40,250; Research Associate II range is £33,150 to £44,850; Senior Research Associate range is £39,950 to £54,050
