UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology was established on 1st August 2013 and is formally comprised of two research departments: The MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (MRC CTU) and the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (CCTU).
The Institute is a centre of excellence for the conduct of all phases of clinical trials, meta-analysis, and epidemiological studies, across a range of diseases. Key areas of focus for the Institute are continuing to deliver innovations in trial methodology to improve outcomes for patients and training and developing the next generation of trialists. The Institute works with academic collaborators in more than 60 countries worldwide and a significant number of commercial partners.
About the role
We are seeking Research Associate/Research Fellow in Systematic Reviews to join our friendly Meta-Analysis Group. The Research Associate/Research Fellow will have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the project including developing protocols, literature search, data extraction and quality assessment as well as summarising the research findings. At both grade Research Associate/Research Fellow will have support from senior members of the team, with those at grade 7 working more independently to organize and manage workload.
The main purpose of the role is to co-develop and deliver a series of systematic reviews, including meta-analyses and network meta-analyses to assess treatment effects for individuals affected by heavy menstrual bleeding due to various causes. The overall aim of this NIHR-funded project is to generate an evidence-base for treatments across the individual life-course that can be used to better inform healthcare of the individuals affected by the condition. There are also opportunities to co-author publications arising from the completed work.
The Research Associate/Research Fellow will be placed with the Meta-Analysis Group at MRC CTU creating opportunities for skills and career development in terms of the technical skills and research career. It is also linked to the newly originated, virtual Evidence Synthesis Research Group for Women’s Health Research.
This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% on site.
This post is funded for 12 months in the first instance.

About you
Applicants should have a post-graduate qualification in life sciences or relevant subject area, coupled with a thorough understanding of systematic review concepts and practical experience of conducting systematic reviews of medical literature. They must have the excellent oral and written communication skills and should be able to take initiative, prioritise and organise their own workloads.
The role may suit someone recently or about to complete an MSc or PhD.

The salary offered will be at Grade 6B/7 (£36,832 - £43,847) per annum depending on skills and experience.
