Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy
Research Associate in Criminology for the project entitled: “Youth Compass: striving for positive attitudinal and behavioural outcomes for school children in England using an innovative youth morality programme”.
The position is part-time (FTE0.35) and fixed term for 12-months starting as soon as possible.
This is an exciting opportunity to join this Loughborough University and British Academy funded project being led by Dr Neema Trivedi-Bateman (Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy) in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. This fascinating project will examine the potential for a new and innovative RCT programme, which aims to make a difference by offering young people psychological tools and strategies to engage in positive behavioural decision making. The programme is both theoretically and empirically informed and was piloted in 2022 at a youth work charity.
The successful candidate will work closely with Dr Trivedi-Bateman, overseeing the day to day running of the project. They will conduct research in the area of morality, emotion and rule-breaking, overseeing primary data collection carried out by school staff using innovative methodologies. The role will involve a combination of remote desk-based work and occasional visits to schools to work with staff and students. Desk work will be varied and will likely include email communications with partner schools, data management and analysis, planning and overseeing project delivery by school staff, and updating and amending programme materials. There will be opportunities to work with well-renowned national and international project collaborators, including academics at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to research outputs.
