Job description
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
We seek a postdoctoral scientist to work with Professor Sir Shankar Balasubramanian on a Wellcome Trust funded programme to investigate the structure and function of chemically modified nucleic acid bases and DNA epeigenetics. This is an interdisciplinary project encompassing biophysics, chemistry and molecular biology. See https://www.balasubramanian.co.uk for further information.
The post offers the opportunity to develop and use cutting-edge genomic techniques to gain a deeper understanding of the function of base modifications and their involvement in regulating gene expression in normal and disease states using mouse and human cellular models. The successful candidate will have a background in molecular biology/nucleic acid chemisty with a good understanding of epigenetics and the role of modified bases. They should also have the capacity for innovation and creativity, and be curiosity-driven. We value good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Candidates should have (or be about to receive) a PhD in a relevant discipline.
