Full-time, Fixed-term contract for duration of 2 years.
Research Associate to provide technical support in an enthusiastic, long-established lab analysing the fundamental mechanisms of molecular motors. You will ideally have a track record in protein engineering, expression in bacteria, purification from bacterial lysates and characterisation using biophysical and biochemical experiments, as well as in more generic laboratory support and management, including re-ordering and stock control using Filemaker. Excellent proven manual skills and excellent proven record keeping skills and communication skills, including presentation skills, are all essential.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role will carry out protein engineering, purification and characterisation of molecular motors and their tubulin tracks using bacterial and baculovirus expression systems. In addition, the role will be responsible for generic laboratory support and management, including re-ordering and stock control.
