Job description

Avaliable Job Today Who are we at Arctech Innovation:

  • We are on a mission to protect people’s health by enabling new and innovative products to predict and prevent the spread of pests and disease.
  • We all live in a bug’s world. For every one of us, there’s around 500 million of them. We know we can’t eliminate every pest or disease. We also know that the next pandemic is likely to be an insect-borne disease. So, at Arctech Innovation, we are bringing together artificial intelligence with the genius of nature to revolutionize the way we manage diseases and prepare for future outbreaks.
  • We believe in the power of partnership-driven growth – we’ve enabled over 300 pest and vector control products for our commercial clients via our contract research services, and we’re commercialising our IP through collaboration with the private sector, academia, and public health bodies to bring our own novel digital pest control and disease monitoring solutions to market.
  • With our deep expertise in medical entomology, insect behaviour, analytical chemistry, behaviour change and data modelling, we’ve already impacted more than 250m lives and established Arctech Innovation as an influencer and disruptor within global and public health.

Who you are:

  • You are dynamic, enthusiastic, and inquisitive, with entomology and vector control knowledge, who loves to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • You want to work on an amazing mission to shape the future of pest control and public health, drawing on your own skills and know-how to help us to develop and evaluate novel products in collaboration with the private sector.
  • You want to work with a first-class team of scientists whose passion for researching insects, diseases and human health is matched by their innovative spark, entrepreneurial zeal and commercial mindsets.

Your role

  • We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic scientists to work in our team in the role of Research Assistant. As integral part of the team, you will play a key role in delivering a diverse range of commercial client projects based in the UK and internationally. Your role will involve assisting in the design and implementation of scientifically rigorous experiments to test the efficacy of arthropod control products and after-bite treatments following WHO protocols, Good Clinical Practice and Good Laboratory Practice, and in the maintenance of a range of arthropod colonies. You will be a motivated scientist with a strong entomology skillset and a strong team player able to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external parties.

Main responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of experiments with mosquitoes and other insects inside the laboratory and in the field. This will involve exposure to insect bites.
  • Assist with insectary work including rearing mosquitoes
  • Source materials and equipment for experiments
  • General laboratory duties, including preparation of chemicals
  • Assist with preparation, completion and filing of clinical trial documents
  • Assist with the safe conduct of clinical trials
