CRO DEPARTMENT and PURPOSE OF ROLE
We are excited to recruit a Research Assistant / Study Director, on a 24 month contract. You will be joining the Contract Research Team at The Griffin Institute (TGI) brand name for Northwick Park Institute for Medical Research (NPIMR)), which is a leading Medical Research and Surgical Training Institute based at Northwick Park and Saint Mark’s Hospitals in Harrow, North London.
The Contract Research team plans and delivers bespoke research projects for both external clients and TGI’s own Research & Development department. The research conducted at TGI is wide-ranging, with the overall theme being pre-clinical research.
The successful candidate will assist the Contract Research team to plan and deliver research projects. The candidate will be expected to work closely with the Study Director Lead to ensure studies are completed to expected turnaround times. The candidate will be involved in preparing study plans and study reports. The candidate will also be involved in performing a range of laboratory techniques.
Roles & Responsibilities:
· Maintaining an understanding of the GLP regulations and OECD documents
· Writing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
· Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date training file
· Preparing study plans and final reports, and data analysis, where necessary to GLP standards
· Ensuring that the necessary equipment is calibrated and/or serviced within the correct timelines
· Validating computer systems for GLP
· Being present during surgical procedures and termination of studies
· Liaising with clients
· Meeting with the Study Director Lead, Business Development Manager and the team to discuss ongoing studies
· Being involved in AWERB meetings
· Performing a range of laboratory techniques
Essential qualifications and experience required:
- A degree in a relevant scientific area (BSc, 2.2 minimum) or above (MSc/PhD), (or equivalent qualifications)
- Ability to work co-operatively, engage with colleagues, at all levels, and as part of a team
- Ability to work independently and be flexible
- Ability to deliver objectives to deadlines
- Problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills – fluent in written and spoken English
- IT Literate: competent using Microsoft 365 packages
Desirable Skills (These would be advantageous, but training will be provided):
- Good Laboratory Practice standards and procedures
- Experience of being a Study Director
- Experience with collecting data, and data analysis, particularly using spreadsheets
- Experience of working in a role that involves managing relationships with clients
- Experience of searching relevant scientific literature and resources
- Experience of writing scientific documents, including study plans and reports
- Experience with computer system validations
- Experience with taking minutes for meetings
- Experience with writing SOPs
- Being highly detail oriented
- Laboratory experience, particularly:
o Histology
o Microbiology
o Operating clinical pathology analysers
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months
Salary: £25,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
