Job description

About the Blavatnik School of Government
Our vision is of a world better led, a world better served and a world better governed. We are a global school committed to improving the quality of government and public policymaking worldwide, through three routes: teaching current and future leaders; generating research with impact; and engaging with governments and practitioners.
What we offer
The School is a collaborative, friendly, and dynamic department based in an award-winning building in Oxford. We host regular events and talks with well-known guest speakers – all of which are open to staff. On the social side, we have regular coffee/cake mornings for staff, a family-friendly Halloween event, and Christmas and summer parties.
As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer. More information about working at the School can be found on our jobs page.
About the Role
The School and INET Oxford are looking to appoint a Research Assistant to support Professor Eric Beinhocker’s work on a book manuscript.
The book manuscript is in the final stages of editing, with specific focus on reference and bibliography management, sourcing, and fact-checking.
The post holder would also provide research support as needed for the preparation of various academic papers, policy reports, op-eds, and conferences and events that Professor Beinhocker participates in.
The contract is fixed-term until 15 December 2023 and is offered on a variable hours basis which means the number of hours each week may fluctuate and will not be full-time.
About You
The successful candidate should possess sufficient domain knowledge to support the research programme by being familiar with economics terminology and economic and other social science source materials.
They should be able to independently manage own research and administrative activities, possess strong organisational and communication skills, along with excellent attention to detail.
A first degree and relevant experience in the field of economics or other social or behavioural sciences, along with the ability to rapidly learn to use text editing software and research materials management packages, is also essential.
Application Process
You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, CV, a writing sample that is relevant to the research topics of the role and the details of two referees as part of your online application.
The closing date for applications is 12:00 noon (UK time) on Monday 27 February 2023.
Interviews will take place during week commencing 6 March 2023 and will be online.
