Job description
We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant to join our internationally leading programme of neuroscience research focused on Motor Motor Neurone Disease (MND), also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and the related disorder frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
As a Research Assistant, you will be responsible for providing research support to the Motor Neuron Disease research group. This will include the maintenance and analysis of neuronal cultures derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from patients seen in the Oxford Motor Neuron Disease clinic. You will also be responsible for the culture of fibroblasts, and motor and cortical neurons from iPSCs and gain experience in neurodegeneration research as it relates to motor neuron disease.
The ideal candidate will hold a first degree in a relevant discipline (e.g biological sciences, including neurosciences), together with some relevant experience. It is desirable that the post-holder has previous cell culture experience.
This post is full time and fixed term until 31st January 2025.
