We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Decision and Action Laboratory and the Neurophysiology of Learning, Planning and Decision Making Laboratory working with Professors Matthew Rushworth and Steve Kennerley and Dr Nima Khalighinejad. The laboratories investigate the neural mechanisms of reward-guided learning, decision making, and motivation.
The post is full time, fixed term for 12 months and is available from 1st October 2023.
The post-holder will carry out research related to the laboratories’ interests and collaborate with other researchers in collecting and analysing electrophysiology, fMRI and behavioural data from non-human primates (NHPs) using a range of techniques including electrophysiological recording, fMRI, TUS, and behavioural testing. Experience in the use of these techniques is essential. The applicant is expected to hold a valid Home Office licence for working with NHPs.
The main duties of the role include data collection and analysis, and organising testing schedules and being responsible for general laboratory management and administration. You will also contribute to scientific reports and journal articles and the presentation of data/papers at conferences.
You will hold an MSc level degree in physiology/neuroscience/psychology-related subject with experience in cognitive neuroscience research and knowledge of the cognitive neuroscience of decision making. With the ability to manage own research and administrative activities, you will be independent, self-motivated, and able to work collaboratively in a team.
