Job description

We are seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) Research Assistant to join the laboratory of Dr Delphine Larrieu (www.larrieulab.com) to contribute to our team's efforts to decipher the cellular mechanisms behind nuclear envelope dysfunction in normal ageing and in premature ageing syndromes (progeria).

This is a great opportunity to join a young, diverse and dynamic team in the Department of Pharmacology, central Cambridge.

The successful candidate will have a track record of effectively working as part of a team as their work will be contributing to several ongoing projects in the lab. Core duties will involve routine tissue culture, cloning and other molecular work, western blotting, immunofluorescence as well as biochemistry. Other responsibilities will include preparation of reagents, maintenance of lab stocks and assist in the day-to-day running of the laboratory.

The successful candidate will have: Degree or equivalent in life sciences; previous research laboratory experience; mammalian tissue culture - significant experience required; previous significant experience in molecular biology techniques: cloning, western blotting, protein analysis or immunofluorescence; fluorescence microscopy experience preferred; high attention to detail and good record keeping; good communication and organisational skills; reliability, efficiency, curiosity and enthusiasm.

Starting date: 1st April 2023. Please note that applicants may be invited for interview prior to the closing date.

Limited funding: The funds for this post are only available for one year from April.
