Job description
Fixed-term contract until 31 December 2023, 36.5 hours per week.
A position is available in the group of Professor Peter Scott to synthesise new polymers, characterise their properties and effects, and to contribute to their commercial application. The position is funded for a maximum of 10 months in the first instance in collaboration with an industrial partner with an end date of 31 December 2023.
You will work with a team of researchers at various levels, and in close collaboration with the industrial partner.
You will have completed MSc, MChem or equivalent in Chemistry and have experience in polymer chemistry, characterisation and testing methodologies. You will be able to demonstrate strong transferrable skills.

Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
Synthesis, characterisation and testing of polymers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To work safely at all times and according to local rules.
2. To carry out synthesis and testing of polymers and copolymers
3. To present results internally and externally in verbal and written form.
4. To play an active role in the research group, participating in all group meetings and activities.
5. To contribute to installation and maintenance of equipment.
6. To act with professionalism at all times and show respect to their colleagues and to understand and adhere to the University's value of dignity at work; they are also expected to work collegially and to support all the teams with which they have contact in achieving the University's objectives.
7. Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
