Full time (36.5 hours per week) Fixed term contract initially until 31 March 2025.

Based at University of Warwick, the role will involve some travel within England.

We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive team of researchers to undertake research tasks on a Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) funded clinical trial, the Teen Triple P Trial, in collaboration with Triple P UK Ltd and six local authorities across England.

The Research Assistant will be based in CEDAR and will work in collaboration with the Teen Triple P Trial team based in CEDAR, while supporting the work of CEDAR to develop and enhance its reputation, both internally and externally.

The study’s primary objective is to determine whether there is a benefit of support as usual (SAU) plus Standard Teen Triple P over SAU alone in improving outcomes for adolescents at risk of being placed in out of home care and their families.

You will have a good (2:1 or 1st class) degree and/or Master’s degree in psychology, social sciences or a related discipline, with a good understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods, an understanding of out-of-home care system, and a strong commitment to working with all stakeholders. You will be involved in research tasks including: preparing study documents, quantitative data collection with children and young people and their family carers, qualitative interviews with children and young people, their family carers, and Teen Triple P practitioners, ongoing data management activities, qualitative analysis, supporting report writing, and regular project meetings.

Undertaking research duties (e.g., quantitative and qualitative data collection, data management, qualitative analysis, and supporting report writing) for the Teen Triple P Trial and working with Teen Triple P Trial team and partners. Supporting the work of CEDAR to develop and enhance its reputation, both internally and externally.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Research an scholarship

  • Carry out research tasks for the Teen Triple P Trial (e.g., quantitative and qualitative data collection, data management, qualitative analysis, and supporting report writing)
  • Collect data and maintain data records
  • Continue to update knowledge and develop skills
  • Follow all study protocol requirements and procedures

Administration and Other Activities

  • Contribute to the administration of the Teen Triple P Trial as required (e.g., arranging meetings for data collection, collecting data, attending project meetings)
  • Work in collaboration with the intervention delivery teams in local authorities and the intervention trainers at Triple P UK Ltd
  • Work in partnership with project advisors and the Study Manager
  • Participate in department life and attend departmental meetings
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety in all aspects of work
  • Work within budget constraints.

The Post

You will work as part of the study team with Dr Paul Thompson and Professor Kylie Gray at the University of Warwick, and with project partners throughout the United Kingdom. You will also be a member of the main Project Team and Trial Management Group.

You will report to the Prof Kylie Gray (Co-Chief Investigator), Dr Paul Thompson (Co-Chief Investigator) and/or the Study Manager who are based at CEDAR, University of Warwick.
