Job description
Applications are sought for a committed Research Assistant to support the development and maintenance of new analytical methods in the St Andrews Isotope Geochemistry (StAIG) laboratories. The primary duties will be to operate and maintain analytical instruments in the laboratory, in particular an Element 2 ICP-MS, an associated ICS6000 ion chromatograph, and a Cavity Ringdown Spectroscope (CRDS) for δ15N and δ18O isotopic analyses in N2O gas. Furthermore, the research assistant will be involved in preparing samples and experiments for analyses, as well as in carrying out analyses for external and internal users.
The successful applicant will have an MSc degree or higher in Earth Sciences, Chemistry or Physics with expertise in analytical sciences.
The post is available for 18months at 75%, starting on April 3, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.
