About us
This position is based in the UCL School of Pharmacy in the research department of Pharmaceutics.
The UCL School of Pharmacy is one of the Divisions located within the Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS) and is one of five areas that constitute the Faculty, the others being Biosciences, the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology at UCL, the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neurocircuits and Behaviour and the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit.

- This is a fixed-term appointment from 1/10/2022 – 22/07/2024 with a salary of £43,586 with a possibility of a further six month extension to 21/01/2025
- Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.
- The Research Associate will join our group to investigate the delivery of actives to the skin and to probe the barrier function of mammalian skin. This multi-disciplinary project will involve the use of advanced topical formulation development, non-linear data modelling, Confocal Raman Spectroscopic (CRS) analyses and chemometric analysis.
- This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.

About you
Applicants must have a primary degree in Pharmacy and hold a PhD in the area of topical and/or transdermal delivery or expect to submit their thesis before 1 October 2023.
In addition, the successful candidate is expected to have extensive experience of spectroscopic techniques relevant for skin characterisation in vivo including Near Infra Red and Confocal Raman spectroscopy.
