Job description
The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences seeks a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant to join our team to work on a clinical trial in Cardiac Rehabilitation. The trial is investigating the feasibility of a higher protein, Mediterranean-style diet in conjunction with resistance training in phase 4 Cardiac Rehabilitation patients.
The research project involves recruiting patients from centres in Knowsley, which would require regular visits to discuss the project with potential participants and arrange laboratory visits for those who are willing to participate. You will also work in our physiology laboratory on ‘visit’ days, to collect outcome data. This includes various body composition measurements, such as Dual X-Ray Absorption and Bioimpedance, plus handgrip strength, blood sampling, blood pressure, and a host of questionnaires including food diaries. Working as part of a team you will also be involved in the analysis of the data and contribute to report and peer review paper writing.
You should have experience of undertaking research activity with research project completion (or near completion) at Level 7 at a minimum related to nutrition and/or exercise and/or cardiovascular research. Experience of conducting pilot and/or feasibility studies and collecting data related to body composition, strength, and blood biochemistry are essential; as are good organisational, project management and independent and team working.
Informal enquiries may be made to Dr Ian Davies ([email protected])
