Background
An exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to work on a research programme looking at antenatal discussions of risk during pregnancy between women and health professionals. The project is a mixed-methods observational and qualitative study of risk communication and understanding for high-risk pregnancies between women and health professionals.
The post is based in the Centre for Maternal and Child Health Research in the School of Health Sciences at City, University of London, and will work closely with the lead investigators Dr Rebecca Webb, Dr Suzanne Lee and Prof Susan Ayers.
Responsibilities
The post involves collecting data, mainly in specialist antenatal clinics in Barts Health NHS Trust. The postholder will be responsible for recording video consultations, carrying out interviews with women and health professionals after the consultations, analysing the data using conversation analysis and thematic analysis, and writing and disseminating the results.
Person Specification
Candidates will need an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in a relevant subject e.g. psychology, midwifery or a health-related discipline. Experience of setting up, conducting and analysing qualitative research; good administrative and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Experience of disseminating research through publication and other methods. Candidates will need to have completed, or be willing to complete Good Clinical Practice training at the beginning of the appointment.
