The opportunity
Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Digital Technology Learning Support Network (DTLSN) in conjunction with support from the Technocamps Programme (TC), based in Swansea University, will work with Blaenau Gwent (BG) communities to enhance digital inclusion and develop digital skills. The DTLSN 4.0 project aims to build awareness, educate, and upskill economically inactive people, unemployed, low-skilled workers, and other groups in the BG region. It will achieve this through the delivery of a range of activities in community and/ or training centres and businesses in the BG region. These include workshops on topics such as basic digital survival skills and bespoke courses in creative coding, online safety awareness, computer security for businesses, machine learning and interacting with data.
The main purpose of this role will be to support the design & execution of the action study and the evaluation of the Digital Technology Learning Support Network (DLSN) project.
Key tasks will include, but not be limited to:
- Plan and design an action learning study with all stakeholders on the DTLSN project.
- Responsibility for completing ethics application, in line with university procedures and processes and in liaison with relevant project partners.
- To work with learners in to create and monitor relevant personal learning plans.
- To effectively analysis questionnaires and stakeholder responses.
- To write up of results from the research activity and to provide input into the research projects’ evaluation reports and dissemination.
What we are looking for
- Undergraduate honours degree with 2:1 or higher in computer science or relevant area to the project, with evidence of undertaking independent research.
- Knowledge of research methods
- Knowledge of data collection techniques
- Knowledge of data analysis and visualisation tools
- Good research methods skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Effective management of own workload
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High-level problem-solving skills
- Positive attitude to practical and applied research
- Strong inter-personal skills to interface with the larger research team.
- Experience in planning, designing and delivering action learning research studies
- Experience in the collection and analysis of data
- Commitment to equality, diversity & inclusivity.
- A satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
- Ability and willingness to travel within Blaenau Gwent and the surrounding region.
