About the Role:
You will join our School of Life Sciences, collaborating with academics teaching and conducting world-class research in Forensic Science, Crime and Investigative Science, Biomedical Science, and Animal and Environmental Biology, based in our Faculty of Science and Engineering. We are a forward-looking and enthusiastic School with a vision that combines commitment to a strong and active research culture with excellence in learning and teaching.
Smoking related litter, especially cigarette butts, are one of the most littered plastic items worldwide. They are also a major contributor to microplastic litter. We are seeking to recruit a high-calibre Research Assistant to undertake research on the effects of smoking related litter in the environment by setting up and maintaining laboratory experiments and providing research support to the Principal Investigators. You will work on a fixed-term project for 12 months funded by Keep Britain Tidy, potentially co-authoring the resulting publications.
You will have a Degree in a relevant subject, or be part qualified at degree level appropriate to the role. You will be creative, motivated and have experience in relevant research methods and have experience with running laboratory experiments. You will also have excellent ITC, written and oral communication skills and an enthusiasm for the research area.
