The opportunity
The Research and Innovation Team provides administrative support for the Schools’ Associate Deans of Research, the Associate Dean for Innovation, REF Coordinators and Graduate Studies Coordinators as well as academic staff who are engaged in research and innovation activities. The post-holder will support all research and innovation projects undertaken by research staff in the Schools.
You will thrive on working in a dynamic and focused support team and be willing to take on a range of tasks. You will be self-motivated, organised and IT literate and be skilled in reviewing processes and making positive suggestions for change. The role presents an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on our administration support services.
You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience Support all Research and Innovation (R&I) activities in the Schools. The list below gives an indication of the responsibilities expected of you:
- Support PGR students from enrolment to completion using bespoke university software packages, as well as liaising with Registry, Student services and Finance regarding PGR matters.
- Facilitate UK and overseas doctoral scholarship agreements including stipend payments where applicable.
- Provide direct support to the School GSC, specific support includes: the Annual Graduate Studies Review, the annual PGR Experience Survey, and the School annual PGR Symposium.
- Provide committee administration including the circulation of papers, taking minutes, and follow up on actions from meetings (Research Degrees, HTA, R&I Committee, Ethics Committee).
- In conjunction with the Associate Deans and research leads organise seminars, external and public engagement events, conferences, and book venues, meeting rooms and programmes.
- Coordinate and track School R&I “measures of success” against annual targets working with Associate Deans, Graduate Studies Coordinators (GSC), and REF Coordinators.
