We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as a Research Specialist Hedge Funds, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.
Role Purpose
Research specialist is part of the team performing investment due diligence for current and proposed holdings in third party managed alternative investment funds. The role involves working with the investment due diligence teams who are responsible for the relationship the group has with 100-120 third party managers,working on fundamental bottom-up research. The focus will be predominantly on European hedge funds across different strategies. Input to the top-down strategy process and other tasks to ensure the smooth running of the team function will also be required.
In this role, you will:
- Provide full investment coverage of the current and prospective hedge fund investments.
- Support the client facing teams in Asset Management Group (AMG) and Global Private Banking (GPB) with timely information with regards to the hedge fund investments.
- Construct meaningful top-down strategy analysis with which to manage and advise on assets across the group.
- Work closely with other members of the global investment due diligence team, operational due diligence team and the portfolio management team.
- Spot opportunities for business development as well as sources of risk.
- Be pro-active, Ethical, Profit yet Risk oriented.
- Organising the monitoring of the hedge fund investments. Ensuring that all systems are fully up to date with all required information with regards to those investments and that information is escalated in a timely manner where appropriate.
- Writing of comprehensive investment due diligence reports in a timely manner.
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in numerate discipline. A master’s degree would be desirable but not essential.
- Extensive investment experience in asset management, investment banking or related discipline.
- Previous relevant experience researching hedge funds is essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Works well in team environment.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
- Self-starter, able to demonstrate initiative, well-developed time management skills.
This is a hybrid working role with the base location as London. The successful candidate will have to have the ability to commute to this location.
