The Faculty
The Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology at Wrexham Glyndwr University has a rich history of innovation in the Arts and Science teaching and research, dating back to 1887.
We are recruiting to work on a new EPSRC funded project, Ecological Citizens which aims to develop a network of partners addressing the ecological and climate-related challenges facing us. The project will identify ways in which the digital economy can help catalyse sustainable change beyond individual actions.
The project is a partnership between The Royal College of Art, London; The Stockholm Environment Institute, York University; and the Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology, Wrexham Glyndwr University.

The Role
We are looking for a part-time/flexi-time Research Administrator support the Ecological Citizens Project. This project is a four-year project funded by the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council).
The Research Administrator (Ecological Citizens) will report to the Principal Investigator (PI) who is leading the project, supporting the PI and the Post-Doctoral Research Assistant (PDRA). You will have the flexibility as part of the role, to manage your own time, carrying out a wide range of project tasks such as responding to phone calls and emails, handling partners, other researchers, preparing correspondence and documents, managing diaries, organising meetings, arranging travel, managing financial processes, time sheets and maintaining secure files. Meeting deadlines is a key attribute.
The post holder will also be required to provide a range of administrative and PA duties on behalf of the PI, undertaking secretarial duties, taking minutes and monitoring decisions and actions required.

Skills and Experience

  • BA/BSc or equivalent, preferably within HE administrative, IT, business environment
  • Good standard of written and spoken English and good interpersonal/communication skills
  • Good work processing and IT skills
  • Be able to manage a range of diverse tasks within deadlines
  • Be able to operate effectively using own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Good and relevant experience in an academic/research office environment
  • The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable, but not essential. However, a sympathy with Welsh cultural heritage and an understanding of current developments in Wales is essential.
