Job description

The role

The post is based in the NIHR Bristol Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) in Bristol Medical School of the University of Bristol. The NIHR BRC is a partnership between University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, the University of Bristol, and other NHS and academic organisations. We aim to improve outcomes for people with and at risk of mental, respiratory, and orthopaedic ill-health, and patients undergoing surgery. We develop ways to improve health through better diet, increased physical activity and reduced bodyweight.

Whilst the postholder will be based within the Department of Population Health Sciences within the University, the BRC is a joint venture between the University and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) and so the postholder may be expected to operate across both institutions.

What will you be doing?

You will be part of the BRC management and administration team, providing support to one or more of the Research Themes and work areas. You will be providing administrative support including organising and minuting meetings, processing expenses, and ordering equipment, arranging travel and helping recruit staff.

You should apply if

  • You have experience of administration and like working as part of a supportive, busy team
  • You have excellent organisational skills, a responsive and flexible attitude and enjoy setting up and improving administrative processes

  • The candidate is expected to be in the office 1 day per week, which is currently agreed as a Thursday
