Job description
We are looking to appoint someone who is enthusiastic, energetic and motivated, with the ability to provide a technical building and advisory service in the repair and maintenance of the Council’s property portfolio.
The council’s property portfolio consists of listed buildings, leisure centres, museums, civic buildings, commercial property and industrial property. The diverse nature of the councils’ properties provides an exciting opportunity for an individual to express their building knowledge and repair and maintenance skills.
This is a varied role and you will need to hold an NHC or HND in Building Construction, or equivalent. Excellent knowledge of construction is essential, including building defects, legislation relevant to buildings and good knowledge of CDM regulations.
The role plays a crucial part in the delivery of the asset management strategy through the repair and maintenance programme and asset replacement scheme. Identifying and undertaking planned repair and maintenance forms part of the role alongside the ability to deal promptly and efficiently with reactive repairs. You shall be able to undertake property surveys, write reports, prepare specifications of work, and select and manage contractors within budget estimates.
In addition to good knowledge of building defects and the construction related environment, the post will require you to have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to diplomatically and sensitively deal with internal clients and contractors. You will be self-motivated, highly organised and have the time management skills to enable you to meet deadlines.
Benefits include pension scheme, flexible working hours, generous annual leave allowance and subsidised leisure centre membership.
