Job description
· The overall objective of this position involves the management of vehicles including preventative maintenance, equipment purchases and repairs.
· Responsible for the maintenance of all fleet vehicles. Maintain service records for Transport Canada compliance and financial visibility.
· Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors servicing fleet vehicles. Review invoices and work orders for accuracy and honesty. Issue POs to vendors for fleet repair and maintenance.
· Participate in fleet operations budgeting process and capital budgeting process
· Work with Logistics team to define fleet requirements – new tailers, trucks, pumping systems etc. and define capital requirements to meet fleet requirements
· Hire and manage city and linehaul drivers. Work with dispatchers to ensure driver scheduling and monitor driver performance. Point of escalation for any driver related issues. First point of contact for any driver needs.
· Work with dispatch supervisors to review and approve drivers’ paid hours and drivers’ HOS logs. Ensure compliance with ELD mandate.
· Ensure fleet vehicles and drivers comply with Transport Canada regulations
· Ensure that all truck mounted pump and metering systems comply with Weights and Measures regulations
· Responsible for the training of all drivers and the creation/maintenance of a driver training program. Work with support staff to document and maintain driver training records
· Work with health and safety to investigate workplace injuries, spills, or other incidents involving drivers
· Spec and source fleet equipment based on agreed fleet requirements
· Work with dispatchers, logistics, or sales team to define delivery requirements at customer’s site and define fleet capabilities to meet those requirements
· Coordinate the registration process for fleet vehicles
· Work with dispatch teams to ensure the scheduling of drivers is organized and maintained
What you will require:
· Mechanical or Engineering degree or equivalent training/experience is required
· Knowledge of pump and metering systems used in fuel, lubricants, solvents, and/or diesel exhaust fluid applications
· Good English language skills written and verbal
· Clear and effective communication skills (both written and oral).
· Minimum of 5 years of relative experience
· AZ or DZ License would be an asset
· Strong knowledge of Transport Canada rules, regulations and audits
· Strong knowledge of Weights and Measures rules, regulations, and audits.
· Experiencing spec’ing and ordering tractor and cab and chassis builds
· Experiencing spec’ing and ordering chemical tanker trailer builds
· Experiencing spec’ing and ordering Weights and Measures compliant pump and metering systems
· Knowledge of TDG and Transport Canada regulations
· Knowledge of HOS rules
· Problem solving skills
· Travel will be required
