Rent Income Collection Officer
The Role:
The Housing Options Service is looking to recruit a Rent Income Collection Officer who is responsible for a portfolio of temporary accommodation and its occupants. Ensuring that households in temporary accommodation are maintaining a satisfactory rent account in order to be moved on into more settled accommodation, providing advice on their move-on options, welfare benefits, and employment.
Requirements:
Having the right calibre of people with the right attitude is essential in providing homeless people with the services they require.
- An understanding of the duties owed to customers threatened with homelessness/actual homelessness under relevant legislation
- The ability to negotiate both with homeless people and on their behalf to broker housing solutions.
- To have an understanding of welfare benefits and have a level of numeracy sufficient to give basic money and housing advice using available tools
- Experience working in a similar role would be an advantage.
- Enthusiasm and strong motivation with a ‘can-do’ attitude
- Ability to immediately deliver, working to tight timescales
- Ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and to develop appropriate promotional material.
- Advanced IT skills in relation to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project, Visio or other project tools.
