Job Title: Renewable Design Engineer

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Location: Leeds, United Kingdom (Office-Based)

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Renewable Design Engineer with a strong background in electrical system design, particularly in the field of heat pump systems. The ideal candidate will have additional knowledge and experience in solar PV design and battery storage system designs. As a Renewable Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of renewable energy systems, focusing on heat pump technology. Your primary responsibilities will include system design, energy performance, and modelling, collaboration with the sales team to understand the needs of both the internal team and customers, G99 application submissions, and coordination with third-party suppliers for surveys and assessments.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop renewable energy systems with a specific focus on heat pump technology. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct energy performance assessments and utilize modelling software to analyse and optimise system efficiency and performance.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand the requirements of both internal stakeholders and customers. Provide technical expertise and support during the sales process.
  • Prepare and submit G99 applications, ensuring compliance with grid connection requirements and standards.
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers and contractors to organize surveys, assessments, and necessary collaborations for successful system implementation.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to renewable energy systems. Contribute to research and development efforts.
  • Create detailed design documentation, reports, and technical specifications. Maintain accurate records of design iterations, calculations, and project-specific requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in electrical system design, preferably with a focus on heat pump systems. Solar PV design and battery storage system design experience is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with energy performance modelling software and tools.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and grid connection requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse complex technical challenges.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, sales teams, and third-party suppliers.
  • Experience with G99 application submissions and grid connection processes.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
