Job description
The Remote Clinical Coder role is a purely remote working role and highly flexible.
The role is available part time or full time, as a locum or salaried position.
Previous experience of coding is essential - minimum of 6 months experience required.
Open to PAYE, Sole Trader and individuals working as Ltd.
The postholder would make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including reviewing, highlighting, coding and actioning workflow documents under supervision.

Main duties and responsibilities
Workflow processing
- To work within set parameters to ensure workflow documents have been uploaded to the correct patient records by the host practice and are legible.
- To appropriately code workflow documents using SNOMED CT codes.
- To follow policies in managing workflow documents and action any documents in adherence to protocols.
- To ensure that workflow is processed in line with department key performance indicators and individual targets.
- To ensure workflow is processed to the highest standard in keeping with patient safety.
Administration
- To check emails on a daily basis and produce standard letters, emails and collect information using available IT packages in line with current procedures.
- To maintain and file accurately all data, documents and correspondence required for the operation of the service.
- To ensure any claims are submitted in line with current procedures.
- To ensure adherence to lone working procedures as required.
Customer care
- To contribute effectively to delivering a first-class customer focused service.
- To effectively use the computer software required for the role.
- To follow the complaint reporting procedures always taking ownership and highlighting any errors made.
Service development
- To work as an individual and within a team to contribute towards service improvement and achieving and maintaining CQC standards.
- To highlight to your line manager any issues of quality, risk and instances of conflict between procedures and CQC / client requirements.
- To assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision.
- To effectively manage own time, workload and resources.
- To complete all mandatory training
Miscellaneous
- To carry out efficiently all associated tasks to support the smooth running of the service that may be assigned to you by a supervisor.

Qualifications and experience
- Minimum of 6 months experience in Primary care coding
- Experience with Systmone and/or Emis web is ideal
- Up to GCSE-level or equivalent relevant qualifications/experience.
- Good literacy skills to read a variety of documents and write appropriate notes.
- Basic numeracy skills to put in overtime claims.
- Willingness to undertake training appropriate to the post.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Salary: £20,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
