Relief Support Worker

Relief Support Worker United Kingdom

MacIntyre
Full Time United Kingdom 10.85 GBP HOURLY Today
Job description

Are you looking for real job satisfaction? Do you have the right qualities to support children and young people who have learning disabilities?

No two days are the same - this is so much more than just a job!!

You'll join us as a Relief Support Worker in St Albans, working with young people who love to be kept busy trying new things and visiting new places.

What sort of thing might you be doing? One day you could be visiting the seaside and the next enjoying reading a good book with the boys.

Alex* loves visiting the farm, going to the library, reading stories with a cup of tea and hanging out in the sensory room.

Arnold loves to watch his favourite soaps, clothes shopping and listening to pop music.

Dave cannot get enough of getting messy, exploring in the garden and playing in the mud. Dave loves nothing more than tickles in the lounge and interacting with staff and playing in the park.

Jack enjoys doing puzzles, playing games on his iPad and loves his water play. Jack loves watching all his favourite Disney films and has even enjoyed a trip to the theatre.

  • Names changed for privacy

If all this sounds like a great day at work, then join us on the journey to support each of the young people in a way which makes sense to them and help them create lasting memories.

How Relief works

The Relief (Bank) post supports the permanent rota staff by completing shifts that are vacant due to annual leave/sickness/training/unforeseen circumstances. As such, hours are non specific but the service will endeavour to balance the needs of the service against your own work/life balance as appropriately as possible.

We normally plan the rotas one month in advance and there is no obligation to accept the work. If you unable to do any shifts you will remain on our Relief register for 3 months before automatically dropping off. Of course the more you put in, the more you will get out of this. Could also be a great way to see if this is the career path for you whilst earning some extra money at the same time!
