Job description
Inspire has been supporting adults with learning disabilities in Angus since 2018, and today we operate a range of services within the area. We have 1 residential service in the centre of Forfar - where we support 4 people - and our Community Living Project (CLP) service which currently provides support to 12 people living independently in their own homes, or with their families, in locations such as Arbroath, Brechin, Carnoustie, Forfar, Montrose and Monifieth.
We currently have vacancies for Relief Support Workers in all of the above areas.
The role of a Support Worker is extremely varied and in Angus the people we support have a broad range of interests including cooking, gardening, music, football, eating out and going for walks - no two days at work are truly ever the same!
Although our work can be challenging it is also immensely rewarding as Relief Support Workers play a vital role in developing and maintaining the important life skills and encouraging the participation and integration required for the people we support to flourish and get the best out of life.
Support work within Angus is really varied. One day you might be helping someone with cooking a meal, cleaning their flat or budgeting their money and the next you could be accompanying them to an appointment or activity session or to get the weekly shopping. You may also be required to help with the administration of medication and maintaining people’s dignity through the provision of quality personal care, depending on individual needs.
What’s In It For You?
You don’t need to have any previous experience in social care to apply – we are more interested in your values and transferable skills. We will ensure you go through a comprehensive induction and training programme before your first shift and we can support you to achieve a funded SVQ 3 in Health & Social Care (SCQF level 7) qualification. Ongoing staff support, regular appraisals and a fully-paid training programme is also provided.
We also appreciate that now, perhaps more than ever before, different people need different things from their work pattern, so there is lots of flexibility with available shifts to enable you to fit these around your other commitments.
There are plenty of other benefits that come with working for Inspire, apart from having the opportunity for real personal development and growth and getting to know and spending lots of time with the people we support.
Relief Support Workers at Inspire receive £10.50 an hour. There is also a £200 Refer a Friend scheme.
What Are You Waiting For?
If you are outgoing, have a caring nature, and are respectful, compassionate, nurturing and inclusive, then we would love you to join our team here in Angus and help us continue supporting local adults with learning disabilities to live fulfilled and happy lives.
