Our Turning Point Scotland Services in Inverclyde are looking for people like you to help provide individualised support to adults with a wide range of needs, either on an individual 1:1 basis or alongside others and as part of a team.

The support we provide is always person centred, we do this by involving people who know the person well, this includes family and friends, other health and Social Work professionals, Advocacy services and our own staff members.

No previous working experience is needed; full training will be provided to you. We believe having the right values of respect, compassion, inclusion and integrity is all you need to join our team! We would offer you full support in completing your application.

As a Relief Support Practitioner, you will work with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives e.g. keeping safe, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing.

Service Descriptor

Turning Point Scotland has provided services in Inverclyde since 2002 and has grown to work within the local area with multiple services ranging from Port Glasgow to Skelmorlie.

We currently provide Supported Living, Housing Support and Social Opportunities to a large number of people who have learning and physical disabilities and those on the Autistic spectrum.

The support we provide is tailored to suit the needs of each individual. We provide support to people in all aspects of their daily living with supports ranging from a few hours per week to 24/7 care.

Support is always person centred, we do this by involving people who know the person well, this includes family and friends, other health and Social Work professionals, Advocacy services and our own staff members. We help ensure individual goals, aspirations and needs are met.

Our staff enjoy training, support and development, pension and benefits packages. Their personal qualities really do make a difference to the lives of the people we support.

Turning Point Scotland Inverclyde services are operational throughout the full year with shifts including days, nights, sleepovers, waking nights, weekends and public holidays including Christmas Day, New Years, Easter etc.

Benefits package

Turning Point Scotland operates a List of Approved Relief Workers who may be contacted by services when there is a need to engage additional workers in order to provide the required support to someone who uses our services. Relief Workers are primarily deployed to cover periods of leave, or sickness absence and to provide additional support during periods of peak activity etc

When there is suitable work available within a service, a manager will contact Relief Workers offer them a shift/series of shifts. As a Relief Worker you will be well-placed to fit your work around your existing work or other commitments and you will be under no pressure or obligation to accept work from us if it does not suit you to do so. Once work is offered and accepted by you however, there is an expectation that you will make every effort to attend to undertake that shift. Your reliability in this regard is very important to our services and to the people we support who will be expecting you.

Relief Workers submit a Time Sheet to claim payment for the hours they have worked and are paid on a monthly basis. You will accrue some entitlement to paid holidays and you will be reimbursed for all reasonable expenses incurred in the course of your work for us.

You will be required to undertake a programme of basic training which is primarily designed to enable you to operate safely, but also to meet the organisation’s obligations to you in terms of health & safety legislation.

Relief Working at Turning Point Scotland will not normally be suitable for people who have full-time posts with other agencies.
