Job description

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO START A CAREER IN THE HOMELESS SECTOR?

ABOUT US

Established 30 years ago, Turning Tides is a multifunctional, complex needs homelessness charity. Our mission is to end local homelessness.

We have gone from supporting a handful of people in the coastal town of Worthing to providing a range of services to over 1,700 people in Worthing, Adur, Littlehampton, Horsham and Mid Sussex. We have over 10,000 supporters, 300 volunteers and 160 staff members to date.

THE ROLE

We are searching for motivated and committed people to join our team of Relief Project Workers, with flexibility to work across the Worthing area at our residential projects or in the community on a need led basis. The role involves supporting teams with the running of services as well as motivating, empowering and supporting clients.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain some experience of the organisation, delivering a breadth of homelessness services to a variety of clients. Relief Work can often provide experience to develop into further roles and opportunities with Turning Tides or within the sector, with access to Turning Tides training programme to support the role and further professional development.

The successful candidate will need to enjoy working with people, have a “can do” attitude and show commitment, resilience, empathy and good basic admin and IT skills.

ABOUT YOU

Turning Tides is committed to developing psychologically informed environments that encompass key concepts of this approach, including ‘elastic tolerance;’ and strengths-based working. As such, candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to work flexibly and creatively to create a culture that supports these values.
