Job description
Cardiff Council's Allocations & Rehousing Unit are responsible for maintaining the Cardiff Housing Waiting List and Council Allocations. The service has expanded to include a new team to focus on providing specialist housing advice for:
- All older people
- Support people with disabilities to access adapted properties and assist older people to downsize to more appropriate accommodation.
The service currently has a vacancy for 1 Rehousing Solutions Officer working 37 hours per week.
About the job
The post holders will be responsible for allocating older persons and adapted accommodation via the Common Housing Waiting List. Other duties will include providing detailed, bespoke advice to applicants; including during home visits, and carrying out non-complex medical assessments for applicants applying to the Housing Waiting List to ensure those with disabilities are rehoused into appropriate accommodation.
What We Are Looking For From You
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as a good level of IT/ Computer skills needed for this post.
Experience of working with clients with physical disabilities and/or older people would be an advantage, as would experience of working within a social housing setting and having some knowledge of the Common Housing Waiting List.
