Job Title: SEN Intervention Teaching Assistant
Location: Ashington, United Kingdom
Contract Duration: September 2023 to October 2023 (with potential for extension)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Here at M2 Education we're delighted to offer to you the opportunity to work for a dynamic and inclusive primary school located in Ashington, committed to providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment for all their students. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Intervention Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full time basis, initially up until Oct 2023. The likelihood of this contract being extended is extremely high. The hours of work will be Mon-Fri 8:30-3:30 and the successful applicant MUST be able to commit to this.
Role Overview
As a SEN Intervention Teaching Assistant, you will have a crucial role in supporting three children with additional needs, including ASD and ADHD, within a Key Stage 1 classroom. Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with these students, providing targeted interventions and personalized support to help them achieve their full potential. Collaboration with the class teacher and the SENCO will be key to ensuring a holistic and inclusive approach to education.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support and assistance to three children with additional needs within the Key Stage 1 classroom setting
- Implement individualized intervention plans designed to meet the specific needs of each student
- Adapt and modify teaching materials to suit different learning styles and abilities
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement, participation, and progress
- Assist with behavior management strategies and help students develop effective coping mechanisms
- Collaborate with the class teacher and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to support
- Maintain accurate records of interventions, progress, and any significant incidents
- Regularly communicate with parents and caregivers, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, preferably with experience in supporting children with ASD and ADHD
- Sound knowledge and understanding of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Ability to adapt and differentiate teaching methods and materials to cater to diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Empathy, patience, and resilience when working with children who have additional needs
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and a positive learning environment
