We are in West London, Chiswick Business Park however we practice a hybrid working model with 50% at home and 50% in the office.
Job Purpose and Mission
The role of the Regulatory Manager contributes to Starbucks’ success by driving the global & EMEA regulatory strategy. Monitoring, maintaining and improving regulatory programmes to ensure the continuous supply of safe, wholesome and premium quality products to customers - being a key contact for responding to EMEA market requests for product, beverage, food contact materials, equipment and furniture information. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks’ guiding principles. Collaborates effectively internally and externally.
Key responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Responsibility for regulatory compliance of food/beverage/food contact materials/ furniture and equipment compliance in EMEA markets.
- Overall responsibility for successful completion of regulatory tasks (formulation/labelling/registration) as part of new & existing business platforms.
- Participating in cross-functional planning meetings to provide regulatory guidance of new projects and entry into new markets.
- Providing full regulatory support to EMEA business
- Preparing updates senior manager to outline upcoming regulatory developments and progress on Projects..
- Support the senior manager in building regulatory team and developing regional regulatory strategy.
- Support development and implementation of company policies (e.g. H&W) from a regulatory perspective.
- Setting up and maintaining processes to ensure compliance of food, beverage, food contact materials , furniture & equipment in EMEA markets.
- Attending and conducting regular meetings to receive updates on compliance of projects/promotional calendars.
- Keeping abreast of regulatory and scientific developments in all EMEA markets, reporting back to the business and taking an active role in work with industry bodies (e.g. BRC).
- Training internal teams on relevant topics (e.g. labelling, formulation compliance)
- Responding to regulatory queries.
- Conducting research on proposed regulatory changes and new country openings.
- Managing label approval and approving labels as required.
- Clearly communicates to cross functional stakeholders and leaders through effective presentations and storytelling
- Adapts plans and priorities to address business needs
The role will require a high level of interaction with various cross functional teams within Starbucks EMEA and other regions. Generally, the role can be completed within normal working hours Monday to Friday, however, on occasion, it may be necessary to work outside of these hours for calls with other countries in different time zones. There may be a small amount of travel depending on the needs of business.
Profile
This role requires the following:
- Educated to degree level within a food science / technology-related discipline.
- High level of knowledge in EU and international regulatory affairs, Codex Alimentarius, GCC, Turkey, Russia, South Africa.
- Experience of working within a regulatory role in food consultancy, manufacturing / food service or food retail environment.
- Strong team player, able to work on own and use initiative to find solutions for broad and complex problems in area of expertise by leveraging other experts, integrating other functions and external parties
- Excellent administration and coordination skills.
- Highly proactive and process-driven.
- Ability to analyse information in a structured manner and prepare coherent communication, both internally and externally.
- High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong IT skills.
- Knowledge of other EMEA languages highly desirable but not essential.
