JOB DESCRIPTION
Rockwater’s Research and Development Scientist will conduct lab scale formulation/reaction, manage new product development and adoption, and assist other scientists in polymer design/synthesis, determination of physical characteristics, and product characterization and documentation.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
- Lead R&D projects for new product conceptualization and development in oilfield application.
- Perform lab and pilot scale trials to support the new product commercialization.
- Brainstorm and collaborate with other R&D team members on new product development and idea exchange.
- Support customer and internal manufacturing.
- Problem solver and problem troubleshooting expertise.
- Maintain a safety practice in work environment.
- Ability to develop/adopt, implement, and manage standardized product performance testing.

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- 7-10 years of product formulation or synthesis experience is required. Advanced degree in chemistry/material science/polymer science/chemical engineering is a plus.
- Proven record of chemistry design, product formulation, chemical synthesis, and characterization.
- Strong communication and customer service skills; effective public speaker.
- Capability and proven abilities in research, science, and technology.
- Ability to think outside the box.
- Demonstrated ability to be organized, flexible and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Exhibit ability to be a strong team player.
- Possess excellent written and verbal skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of constantly changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently.
